With over 1,200 exhibiting publishers from 25 countries, three thousand authors attending and five hundred events, the Salon du Livre de Paris is the biggest and most important book fair in the Francophone world. For six days, over 198,000 visitors ( among them 25,000 registered trade visitors ) have the break of exploring the multi-faceted French-language publishing landscape. The focus is on the major mainstream publishing companies like Gallimard, Flammarion and Actes Sud. But a big number of smaller publishers also present their entire programme and demonstrate the existence of a dynamic and creative scene beyond the publishing capital of Paris. The Salon du Livre is structured for both private and trade visitors. Alongside many on-stage events, the organisers are extending the programme for the international pro and trade public. There are plans for a Business Centre for literary agents, scouts and rights executives and the Centre for Audiovisual Rights launched in 2009 also will be expanded.

In 2010 and on its 30th anniversary, the Salon du Livre won't be inviting a guest nation as usual. Instead, three times 30 writers from France and abroad will be in the spotlight at the fair.
