As the cruise industry has experienced renaissance, cruise ship jobs are in demand. Cruising to foreign locations for a living sounds like a fine idea and it can be realism. An average of seven liners a year is coming online and they remain getting larger. Applicants can apply their skills to life on the ocean waves and entry level positions are available. Foe a number of people, it is a livelihood and for others it is a temporary experience. For students, there are opportunities to work a summer job. Luxury cruise liners resemble floating hotels and they go to the Alaska, Caribbean, or the exhilarating ports of Europe. The cruise ship jobs are well paid and all expenditure is met by the company. That means that employees receive food, free accommodation, medical care and medical insurance.
Employment opportunities are broken down into the variety of departments on board. Employees pay for the plane fare to the ship’s port of embarkation and the return. In addition, relatives of staff are offered cruise vacations at discounted prices. The Deck Department has Deck Officers that include a First Officer and other ranks. Security Officers, Bosuns and Seamen also serve. Of course, the top position is the Captain. Hotel Operations employs the Shore Excursion Manager and the Chief Purser and his assistants. A number of trades are required by the Engineering Department, which is headed by the Chief Engineer. In addition to the Wiper, Plumber, Fitter and Motorman, there is a staff of electricians and engineers. Passengers like to be entertained even as on board and there are cruise ship jobs for dancers, singers, comics, musicians and DJs.
Behind the scenes there is also a stage crew. The meals are prepared in the Galley. There are the positions that you’d wait for to find in a restaurant, such as Pastry Chef, Chef de Partie and a Sous Chef. For the cruises, casinos are an imperative source of revenue providing a lot of fun for the passengers. The staff comprises a Casino Accountant, Slot Technicians and croupiers. Each liner has a Spa and Beauty Salon requiring a hair stylist, beautician, nail technician and massage therapist. There must be an emergency for crew members or passengers falling ill or getting injured and each liner has a doctor and staff of nurses. There is also a dishwasher and a butcher. A variety of activities on board also open up cruise ship job opportunities including Scuba Diving Instructor, Golf Instructor or Fitness Instructor.
Because of the hard work behind the scenes each liner is only probable. The Housekeeping Department employs cabin attendants, laundry staff, pool attendants and floor supervisors. The Food and Beverage Department staff includes the Maitre D’, waiters and waitresses, bartenders and bar stewards. So, if you believe you have the right qualities, a cruise ship job can be difficult task but very satisfying. It is absolutely an experience that you won’t disregard and is a great way to see a bit of the world as well as make new friends.
